Ricky Utomo, director of PR and marketing communications at Raffles Bali, unveils plans for an ambitious expansion of the property's offerings in 2024, coinciding with Indonesia's push to attract 14 million foreign visitors next year. "We're not just creating a resort; we're crafting experiences that resonate with the soul of Bali," Utomo explained recently.
The timing couldn't be more opportune. Bali's tourism sector has rebounded with vigor, welcoming 3.5 million international tourists in the first seven months of 2023 alone—a 22% increase from the previous year. Industry forecasts project this upward trajectory to continue, with Indonesia's tourism contribution to GDP expected to reach $32 billion by 2030.
Raffles Bali distinguishes itself through cultural immersion and environmental stewardship. Each villa, ranging from 470 to 900 square meters, offers panoramic ocean views and private pools, blending contemporary luxury with traditional Balinese design elements.
"Our goal is to provide more than just accommodation," Utomo stated. "We want our guests to feel the essence of Bali in every aspect of their stay." This philosophy is evident in the resort's novel offerings, such as the Balinese Soul Blessing Ceremony, delivered by local healers as part of the wellness experience.
The resort's dedication to sustainability is equally impressive. Half of its 23-hectare property remains undeveloped, preserving native flora and fauna. A once-dormant river has been revived, now flowing through the grounds as a "Wellbeing River," embodying the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana—harmony between humans, nature, and the divine.
Raffles Bali's culinary program testifies to both gastronomic innovation and environmental responsibility. The resort's signature restaurant, Rumari, recently appointed as Bali's first and only Krug Ambassade, showcases a farm-to-table ethos that celebrates local ingredients and culinary traditions.
Chef Gaetan Biesuz, director of culinary at Raffles Bali, emphasized how the resort values sourcing. "Eighty percent of our ingredients are sourced locally," he revealed. "We're not just serving meals; we're telling the story of Bali through its flavors."
This approach extends beyond the main restaurant. The resort offers unique dining experiences, including private dinners in a torch-lit natural cave discovered during construction—a feature that has quickly become a signature attraction.
As Bali leads Indonesia's tourism strategy, Raffles Bali is playing a key role in elevating the island's luxury offerings. The resort's focus on personalized experiences, cultural authenticity, and environmental consciousness aligns perfectly with the evolving preferences of high-end travelers.
