Cape Town -The rape and sexual assault case involving a Langa man alleged to have perpetrated the crimes against teenage boys has been postponed in the Cape Town Regional Court for further investigation.
The 33-year-old was arrested for sexually grooming teenagers for more than eight months.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said the man faced charges of rape and sexual assault.
It remained unclear on Tuesday how many victims were involved.
“The case was postponed until December 5 2022 for further investigation,” said Ntabazalila.
Activist and rape survivor, Revered June Dolley-Major, said the government and NGOs were not doing enough to address the issue of male rape in communities.
“Sadly, male rape is something we often do not speak about and communities should be blamed for that.
“Boys and men are too afraid to speak out and say they were raped. We raise boys to show little or no emotions and if they do that we call them derogatory names.”
Langa Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson Alfred Magwaca has urged the justice system to be in contact with the families during the investigations and before releasing the suspect from jail.
“This is a very sensitive matter. We want justice to play its role and not be biassed.
“Indeed we do fear for our children's lives,” said Magwaca.
