Multiple award winner, Anne Siroky, from Athlone, with her latest accolade, an award for outstanding contribution to volleyball in 2024.

SA Masters Volleyball Hall of Fame 2022 inductee and current sports coach at St George’s Grammar School, in Mowbray, Anne Siroky, 64, from Athlone, was among those honoured at last week’s Cape Town Volleyball Federation’s awards presentation, held at the Protea Sports Club, in Retreat.

A day that will forever be etched in her mind as a day of joy and pain, Siroky received her latest accolade on the same day her sister was laid to rest.

A multiple award winner and founder of The Future Factory, a sports development project based in Athlone, Siroky has previously served as an executive member of Volleyball South Africa and as chairperson for the WP Schools Volleyball Union.

She also represented South Africa at various international competitions, including the All Africa Games and the inaugural Beach Volleyball World Series, in Brazil, in 1994.

Although volleyball remains her first love, Siroky also coaches hockey, soccer, netball, cricket, softball and swimming with a number of school records broken under her watch.

“It’s important that we continue to give back so that we can create future role models and sports stars in and for our country through our sporting activities,” she said.
