Wynberg swimming pool closed until January 4

Staff Reporter|Published 4 months ago

Wynberg swimming pool has undergone maintenance.

Wynberg swimming pool will remain closed until Saturday January 4.

The pool was initially scheduled to reopen today, Tuesday December 31, however, the City of Cape Town says due to unforeseen delays, filling the pool will take approximately three days.

“Following this, cleaning, testing and commissioning of the pool and its pipes will be carried out to ensure the highest standards of water quality. Tile work for the main pool and kiddies pool was completed yesterday and the filling of the pools has since begun,” the City said in a statement.

“The safety and quality of the swimming environment are our top priorities and we are working hard to complete all necessary steps so that the pool can reopen as soon as possible. Our goal is to ensure that patrons have an enjoyable recreational experience. When the facility reopens, we remind all patrons that it is vital to adhere to lifeguards' instructions for a safe swimming experience for everyone,” said Mayoral Committee member for community services and health, Patricia van der Ross.

“We know the pool is an important part of the community and we apologise for the delays. We appreciate your patience as we work towards reopening,” said Carmen Siebritz, councillor for Ward 63.
