Young women graduated from the Blaqpearl Foundation’s Sisters With Attitude (SWA) project on Monday March 26 at an event held at Alliance Francaise in Portland. The project, which is conducted in partnership with the Alliance Francaise and funded by the Department of Social Development and a City of Cape Town Arts and Culture Grant-in-Aid, is aimed at transferring life skills to young women through the arts, using mediums such as dance, fashion design, music and theatre over a course of 10 carefully structured sessions. Under the guidance of established artist Blaq Pearl, the sessions are facilitated by a group of inspiring women coaches who are all professional arts practitioners. The graduation ceremony celebrated the participants’ completion of the project and showcases what they have learnt.
