■ John Jeffery, Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development and Mayor Patricia de Lille unveil a plaque at the official opening of the new Mitchell’s Plain Municipal Court, on the corner of Melkbos Street and Merrydale Avenue in Lentegeur on Friday May 4. The City of Cape Town invested R4.7 million to develop this new court building, in line with is its commitments in their Organisational Development and Transformation Plan to be a more customer-centric organisation. Ms De Lille said the plan was officially adopted in 2016 and that with transformation, services had to be brought closer to the public and that there should be parity of services. She said this was also to ensure the municipality reacts faster to problems.“The same kind of services, quality and quantity, that we deliver in Constantia must be delivered in Mitchell’s Plain, Gugulethu and in Bonteheuwel and be more customer-centric,” she said.
