Happy 70th

■ Mariam Samsodien, pictured in pink, front row, celebrated her 70th birthday on Wednesday May 2 at the Beacon Valley community centre where the Beacon Fitness Club held a surprise birthday party in her honour. Elaine Hendricks, one of the club’s members, said: “Ms Samsodien is one of the oldest members of the club. She has been with the club for 13 years, since 2005, and the club has been standing for 14 years since 2004. She is a woman of very few words but we really appreciate her and all that she has done.”
